FOURTH TIME LUCKY

Welcome to our first blog for a while and firstly we would like to thank Rob for the blogs posted its much appreciated, once again we have been asked about the views on the big fight this weekend as Pacquiao and Marquez meet for a 4th time, simply put this fight is about redemption for the Pacman as we was asked why he never put the record straight vS Bradley, simply put fighting Bradley again would prove nothing everyone knows Pac won the first fight so fighting him again will achieve nothing whereas with Marquez theres always that question mark over all the fights personally i felt the first two fights were called right although an argument could be made that if you  get knocked down 3 times in the 1st round making it a 10-6 rnd and still come back to earn a draw chances are you did win.The 3rd fight scoring we was with the majority in believing Marquez won fairly well, there were things i saw in there that worried me at times Pacman wasnt closing Marquez down or cutting off the ring but was getting so frustrared he was reaching an amateurish move and one thats extremely dangerous against a counterpuncher like Marquez. We see this fight going one of two ways either Marquez finally gets the decision he deserves or stung by all the critiscm over his last two fights Pac turns back the clock and puts in one of his performances of old.The Pacman needs to make himself relevant again which was why he took Marquez if he gets the k.o he finally puts to rest his nemesis for to long and puts him back on equal terms with Mayweather again. What does worry us is that the Pacman may fight like he did against Bradley although we felt he won clearly with to many rounds he was trying to steal the rounds by working for a minute a round he cant do that against Marquez this fourth fight may well turn out to be the best yet because for both theres so much at stake.

Thanks for the kind remarks. This one could be intersting. Pac really does need to make this a statement fight and get a clear win over Marquez. I hope this one doesn't turn out to be dud or bad fight, chances are that it will not go that route and it will be another good bout. If I had to make a pick here......It would be Marquez by decision, no shcok if Pac gets another win, but will say JMM gets the win this time.

Hi My friend. Just wondering what your thoughts were on Horace Notice? he was undefeated and did have the wins over Noel Quarless and Anaclet Wamba. Notice wasn't a big HWT...but back in his days, we didn't see the real big HWTs as we have today. was it a eye injury that ended his career? Just wondering how would you have seen a fight between Notice and Herbie Hide?

Pretty good weekend of Boxing. Bryant Jennings got another good win. Mikkel Kessler got the win over Magee. And Juan Manuel Marquez got the KO win over Manny Pac. Good weekend for the sport.

It was good to see Boxing back on CBS today. It had ben 15 years since they had a fight on that network. Leo Santa Cruz defeated Alberto Guevara by U decision. Here in the States, of course CBS many, many years ago would have plenty of good fights on TV almost every weekend, as would NBC and ABC. You could see guys like John Mugabi, Jeff fenech, Bobby Cyzy, Rocky Lockridge, Terry Norris, Donald Curry, Mike Tyson, Michael Spinks, Pedroza, Pernell Whitaker, Meldrick Taylor, Bonecrusher Smith, etc...I rememebr watching the Barry Michael vs Lockridge fight on NBC...Hector Camacho was on many times as well. Ray Mancini vs Kim, Espana and Frias. Those were good days for Boxing on network TV....

Just reading about a possible Roy Jones vs Steve Collins fight. Not sure if this one will take place...Collins hasn't fought since 1997. Also Could we see Brian Nielsen in the ring again? One report has Brian wanting one or two more fights, if he is able to continue after hip surgery.

Just wanted to sahare a bit about Frank "Paco" Flores. I was good friends with his brother and promoter Tony Fores. Paco passed away last June and Tony the year before. Paco was 55-2 as a Amat. Flores was once rated #7 by RING Mag at JR Welter. During his career, he defeated Percy Pugh, Johnny Rico, Nate Robinson, Gil King and Al Romano. Paco was also a Golden Gloves Champion in Arizona. He was a crowd favorite in Tucson, AZ and really put boxing on the map in that area. He drew sell out crowds and received quite a bit of notice. Paco lost fights to Eddie Perkins and Elisha Obed. I don't see it listed on boxing sites, but Paco did fight after the loss to Obed and won a decision in that fight. He was a very talented fighter, and His brother Tony was a well known fight promoter in Tucson. We all have stories about some of our fav fighters, or fighters one may have known, and I am very thankful for my friendship with Tony Flores.

Just a correction here, just watched the complete Mansour vs Alexander fight. The end came with 1:39 left in round one.....

Back on Sept 28, 1975. Paco Flores returned to the ring for the first time in 13 months, since his loss to Elisha Obed. The fight doesn't show up on his record on boxing sites. Flores defeated Milo Leyvas by U decision in Tucson, AZ. Flores was down in round 6. Scores were 99-92, 98-95, 99-94. Flores said after the fight.. "Leyas is a tough hombre"

Who will Wlad Klitschko fight next? Hearing it could be Fres Oquendo? IMO I would like to see him face Alexander Povetkin next or before the year is over.

The Cruiser div hasn't always received high regards. After Evander Holyfield many of the other champions haven't received much notice. Just a list of some of the better fighters to have been champions. Carlos DeLeon, Carlos won and lost the cruiser title a few times, he had wins over ST Gordon, Leon Spinks, Yaqui Lopez and Sammy Reeson. Anaclet Wamba was a talented fighter and defeated A.Tafer, A.Maynard and M.Duran. Juan Carlos Gomez and Jean-Marc Mormeck also enjoyed being tops in the div. Vasilly Jirov was another good solid champ in the div. Though not given much respect the cruiser Div has produced some decent world champions over the years..

Adrien Broner vs Gavin Rees this weekend. The Banks vs Mitchell rematch is off, so Sakio Bika will be on the televised undercard. Can Rees get the win over Broner?

Broner got the TKO win over Rees. Rees came to fight, and put up a good effort in this one.

Undefeated HWT Denis Boystov has defeated Samir Kurtagic by decision. Boystov is now 32-0. I would like to see Denis step up his level of comp in the very near future. He has done very well so far, but IMO needs to move up the comp level.

Andrew Golota returns to the ring tomorrow in Poland. Golota will face off against Prim Saleta. Saleta hasn't fought since 2006. It will be interesting to see how Golota reacts to the big event in Poland. I think Andrew will defeat Saleta. Golota had much talent, but of course had the infamous bouts vs Bowe, as well as let downs vs Lennox, Tyson, Grant and Brewster.

Saleta halts Golota in round 6. Andrew went down and couldn't beat the count. I thought Golota would win this one.

Looking back on the career of Norbert Ekassi. He had some decent wins, vs Boulware, Marcelo Fig, Chanet, Tafer. Does anyone remember how he died? Was it accidental?

Bernard Hopkins is set to face Tavoris Cloud tomorow night. Cloud is 24-0, and does have wins over Clinton Woods, Glen Johnson, and Y.Mack. Will this be yet another win for Hopkins? Can Cloud defeat Bernard?

Hopkins won the decision over Cloud. I thought Cloud would have done a bit better in this fight. Will Hops fight Kuro Murat next or look for a bigger name fight....

Tonight Timothy Bradley takes on Ruslan Provodnikov in Carson, CA. I think this could be a good fight. Ruslan is a tough fighter and I can see him having a good chance of defeating Bradley. This one could be close. If I had to make a pick, I would say...Bradley by decision..But no shock at all, if Ruslan gets the win.

Bradley wins the close U decision in a very good fight. This fight was good for boxing...as it had action and showed two fighters going at it with solid efforts on both parts. I didn't do a score card while watching the fight, but thought Bradley won it by a point or 2. If Ruslan had been given credit for a KD early in the fight..we would have had a draw on two of the cards, if not mistaken..Good fight last night!

Sad to hear about the passing of Carl "The Truth" Williams. I was a fan of Carl's. He had some good wins over his career beating guys like Bert Cooper, Trevor Berbick and Jesse Ferguson. He also fought Holmes, Tyson, Bruno and Weaver. Good, talented fighter. May GOD Bless and bring comfort to his family in the name of JESUS!

Sad new out of South Africa this morning. Reports are that Johnny DuPlooy has passed away at age 48. I always enjoyed watching his fights. The war with Pierre Coetzer. He also faced Mike Weaver, Damiani, Snipes, James Tillis, James Broad, David Bey and Bigfoot Martin. May GOD Bless his family in their time of loss.....
